The Essential Project was founded in August 2021 by Arianna Rodriguez.  Our purpose was born when Arianna’s mother came to visit her in Hawaii and had this idea of making “comfort kits” to personally hand out to those in need. These “comfort kits” consisted of hygiene products such as body wash, tooth brush, tooth paste, hand sanitizer, band-aids, hair brushes and more.  After receiving an incredible and eye-opening response, Arianna knew it was only the beginning of serving her community in an impactful way.  After deciding to primarily focus on babies & children, she began doing her research on exactly what items were needed most.  It was a huge surprise that the most basic essentials were highest on the list.  In April of 2022, The Essential Project officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our Mission

As a 501(c)(3) non profit organization based in Hawaii, our mission is to provide underprivileged parents and children with every day essentials that no child should go without.  By supplying diapers, hygiene essentials, school supplies and so much more our goal is to make every child in need feel comfortable, cared for and set them up for future success.

Our Reason

If you can’t afford diapers, you can’t send your child to day care.  If you can’t send your child to day care, how will parents work in order to afford those diapers?  Considering Hawaii is the most expensive state to live in The United States with the cost of living double the national average, The Essential Project aspires to relieve parents and children of those day to day worries and help them get them back on their feet.  We believe every child has a right to these primary necessities.
